Postular General
Considering the increasing number of causes for canonization in the Syro-Malabar Church, the Synod of Bishops found it to be of great importance that the Syro-Malabar Church has a Postulator General. Hence the office of the Postulator General was created in 2013. The function of the Postulator General is to initiate and offer assistance in the causes of beatification of the Servants of God and canonization of the Blessed. The service of the Postulator General is available within and without the proper territory of the Syro-Malabar Church to its dioceses or eparchies, institutes of consecrated life, societies of apostolic life, association of the Catholic faithful, and others who are legitimate petitioners according to the norms of law. The Postulator General may extend his services upon request to the causes of other Churches sui iuris including the Latin Church. He deals with the petitioner of a cause ordinarily through the postulator who is duly appointed by the petitioner. The Postulator General has an office set up at the Major Archiepiscopal Curia.
