History

The Eparchy of Kanjirapally was established by the Bull of Pope Paul VI, ?Nos Beati Petri Successores? of February 26, 1977, by separating the eastern part of the Arch?diocese of Changanacherry and erecting the new Eparchy of Kanjirapally, as a suffragan of the same Archdiocese. The Eparchy of Kanjirapally has at present ten foranes, namely, Anakkara, Erumely, Kanjirapally, Kattppana, Kumily, Mundakayam, Ponkunnam, Upputhara, Ranni and Pathanamthitta.

Most Rev Mathew Arackal took charge as the third Bishop of Kanjirapally on February 9, 2001.
