Reading 2, Dan 3:19-26 Three young men in the blazing furnace. : Ex 3:1-6 God calls Moses.

19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the expression of his face was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered the furnace heated seven times more than it was wont to be heated.

20 And he ordered certain mighty men of his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.

21 Then these men were bound in their mantles, their tunics, their hats, and their other garments, and they were cast into the burning fiery furnace.

22 Because the king's order was strict and the furnace very hot, the flame of the fire slew those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell bound into the burning fiery furnace.

24 And they walked about in the midst of the flames, singing hymns to God and blessing the Lord.

25 Then Azariah stood and offered this prayer; in the midst of the fire he opened his mouth and said:

26 "Blessed art thou, O Lord, God of our fathers, and worthy of praise; and thy name is glorified for ever.

Ex 3:1-6 God calls Moses.

1 THESE are the names of the sons of Israel who came to Egypt with Jacob, each with his household:

2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,

3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin, Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher.

4 All the offspring of Jacob were seventy persons; Joseph was already in Egypt.

5 Then Joseph died, and all his brothers, and all that generation.

6 But the descendants of Israel were fruitful and increased greatly; they multiplied and grew exceedingly strong; so that the land was filled with them.

Reading 3, 2 Cor 6:3-10 We are servants . : 2 Thess 2:5-12, All who have not believed the truth will be condemned

3 We put no obstacle in any one's way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry,

4 but as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: through great endurance, in afflictions, hardships, calamities,

5 beatings, imprisonments, tumults, labors, watching, hunger;

6 by purity, knowledge, forbearance, kindness, the Holy Spirit, genuine love,

7 truthful speech, and the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and for the left;

8 in honor and dishonor, in ill repute and good repute. We are treated as impostors, and yet are true;

9 as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold we live; as punished, and yet not killed;

10 as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

2 Thess 2: 5-12, All who have not believed the truth will be condemned

5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you this?

6 And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time.

7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way.

8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, and the Lord Jesus will slay him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by his appearing and his coming.

9 The coming of the lawless one by the activity of Satan will be with all power and with pretended signs and wonders,

10 and with all wicked deception for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.

11 Therefore God sends upon them a strong delusion, to make them believe what is false,

12 so that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Gospel, Mt 11:20 - 24 Woes to Unrepentant Cities : Lk 11:43-52 Prophets will be persecuted.

20 Then he began to upbraid the cities where most of his mighty works had been done, because they did not repent.

21 "Woe to you, Chorazin! woe to you, Beth-saida! for if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

22 But I tell you, it shall be more tolerable on the day of judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you.

23 And you, Caperna-um, will you be exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to Hades. For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

24 But I tell you that it shall be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you."

Lk 11:43-52 Prophets will be persecuted.

43 Woe to you Pharisees! for you love the best seat in the synagogues and salutations in the market places.

44 Woe to you! for you are like graves which are not seen, and men walk over them without knowing it."

45 One of the lawyers answered him, "Teacher, in saying this you reproach us also."

46 And he said, "Woe to you lawyers also! for you load men with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers.

47 Woe to you! for you build the tombs of the prophets whom your fathers killed.

48 So you are witnesses and consent to the deeds of your fathers; for they killed them, and you build their tombs.

49 Therefore also the Wisdom of God said, 'I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and persecute,'

50 that the blood of all the prophets, shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation,

51 from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, it shall be required of this generation.

52 Woe to you lawyers! for you have taken away the key of knowledge; you did not enter yourselves, and you hindered those who were entering."
