Reading 3, Rom 8:18-25, Wait for the glory which is to be revealed : Eph 4:1-7, 11-13, Service is to build up the church

18 I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God;20 for the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will but by the will of him who subjected it in hope;21 because the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and obtain the glorious liberty of the children of God.22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning in travail together until now;23 and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.24 For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees?25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

Eph 4:1-7, 11-13, Service is to build up the church

1 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called,2 with all lowliness and meekness, with patience, forbearing one another in love,3 eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call,5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,6 one God and Father of us all, who is above all and through all and in all.7 But grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ's gift.

Gospel, Lk 12:54-59, The signs of the end : Mk 4:1-9, The sowed seed.

54 He also said to the multitudes, "When you see a cloud rising in the west, you say at once, 'A shower is coming'; and so it happens.55 And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, 'There will be scorching heat'; and it happens.56 You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky; but why do you not know how to interpret the present time?57 "And why do you not judge for yourselves what is right?58 As you go with your accuser before the magistrate, make an effort to settle with him on the way, lest he drag you to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the officer, and the officer put you in prison.59 I tell you, you will never get out till you have paid the very last copper."

 Mk 4:1-9, The sowed seed.

1 Again he began to teach beside the sea. And a very large crowd gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat in it on the sea; and the whole crowd was beside the sea on the land.2 And he taught them many things in parables, and in his teaching he said to them:3 "Listen! A sower went out to sow.4 And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it.5 Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it had not much soil, and immediately it sprang up, since it had no depth of soil;6 and when the sun rose it was scorched, and since it had no root it withered away.7 Other seed fell among thorns and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no grain.8 And other seeds fell into good soil and brought forth grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold."9 And he said, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."
