Season of Elijah-Cross-Moses
Bl. Thevarparampil Kunjachan ( Sixth Wednesday of Elijah cross Moses )
Reading 1, Gen 12:1-4 : God calls Abraham
1 Now the LORD said to Abram, "Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you.2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who curses you I will curse; and by you all the families of the earth shall bless themselves. "4 So Abram went, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-fiveyears old when he departed from Haran.
Reading 2, Is 44:1-4 : Will bestow my grace upon your children
1 "But now hear, O Jacob my servant, Israel whom I have chosen!2 Thus says the LORD who made you, who formed you from the womb and will help you: Fear not, O Jacob my servant, Jeshurun whom I have chosen.3 For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your descendants, and my blessing on your offspring.4 They shall spring up like grass amid waters, like willows by flowing streams.
Reading 3, 1 Pet 4:12-19 : Live according to the will of God.
12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which comes upon you to prove you, as though something strange were happening to you.13 But rejoice in so far as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.14 If you are reproached for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or a wrongdoer, or a mischief-maker;16 yet if one suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but under that name let him glorify God.17 For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?18 And "If the righteous man is scarcely saved, where will the impious and sinner appear?"19 Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will do right and entrust their souls to a faithful Creator.
Gospel, യോഹ 10:1-15 : I am the good Shepherd
1 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber; 2 but he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the gatekeeper opens; the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. 5 A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers." 6 This figure Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them. 7 So Jesus again said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All who came before me are thieves and robbers; but the sheep did not heed them. 9 I am the door; if any one enters by me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 He who is a hireling and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. 13 He flees because he is a hireling and cares nothing for the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me, 15 as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
