Tthe generation which has no faith
Reading 3, Gal 3: 9-14 : The just will live by faith
9 | So then, those who are men of faith are blessed with Abraham who had faith. |
10 | For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed be every one who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, and do them." |
11 | Now it is evident that no man is justified before God by the law; for "He who through faith is righteous shall live"; |
12 | but the law does not rest on faith, for "He who does them shall live by them." |
13 | Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us -- for it is written, "Cursed be every one who hangs on a tree" -- |
14 | that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. |
Gospel, Lk 9:37-43a : Tthe generation which has no faith
37 | On the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a great crowd met him. |
38 | And behold, a man from the crowd cried, "Teacher, I beg you to look upon my son, for he is my only child; |
39 | and behold, a spirit seizes him, and he suddenly cries out; it convulses him till he foams, and shatters him, and will hardly leave him. |
40 | And I begged your disciples to cast it out, but they could not." |
41 | Jesus answered, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long am I to be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here." |
42 | While he was coming, the demon tore him and convulsed him. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy, and gave him back to his father. |
43 | And all were astonished at the majesty of God. But while they were all marveling at everything he did, he said to his disciples, |
