Daily Readings for Tuesday January 14,2014
Reading 3, 1 Cor 12: 12-18 : Different members of one body.
12 |
For just as
the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. |
13 |
For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body -- Jews or
Greeks, slaves or free -- and all were made to drink of one Spirit. |
14 |
For the body does not consist of one member but of many. |
15 |
If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the
body," that would not make it any less a part of the body. |
16 |
And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," that would not make it any less
a part of the body. |
17 |
If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? |
18 |
But as it is, God arranged the organs in the body,
each one of them, as he chose. |
Gospel, Jn15: 1-10 : Abide in my love
|
1 |
After this there was a feast of
the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. |
2 |
Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Hebrew called Beth-za'tha, which has five porticoes. |
3 |
In these lay a multitude of invalids, blind, lame,
paralyzed. |
5 |
One man
was there, who had been ill for thirty-eight years. |
6 |
When Jesus saw him and knew that he had been lying there a long time, he said to him, "Do you want to be healed?" |
7 |
The sick man answered him,
"Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is troubled, and while I am going another steps down before me." |
8 |
Jesus said to him, "Rise, take up your pallet, and
walk." |
9 |
And at
once the man was healed, and he took up his pallet and walked. Now that day was the sabbath. |
10 |
So the Jews said to the man who was cured, "It is the sabbath, it is not lawful for you to
carry your pallet." |
