Isaiah 64 |
|
1 | O that thou wouldst rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might quake at thy presence -- |
2 | as when fire kindles brushwood and the fire causes water to boil -- to make thy name known to thy adversaries, and that the nations might tremble at thy presence! |
3 | When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains quaked at thy presence. |
4 | From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides thee, who works for those who wait for him. |
5 | Thou meetest him that joyfully works righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways. Behold, thou wast angry, and we sinned; in our sins we have been a long time, and shall we be saved? |
6 | We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. |
7 | There is no one that calls upon thy name, that bestirs himself to take hold of thee; for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast delivered us into the hand of our iniquities. |
8 | Yet, O LORD, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou art our potter; we are all the work of thy hand. |
9 | Be not exceedingly angry, O LORD, and remember not iniquity for ever. Behold, consider, we are all thy people. |
Habakkuk 3 |
|
13 | Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, for the salvation of thy anointed. Thou didst crush the head of the wicked, laying him bare from thigh to neck. Selah |
14 | Thou didst pierce with thy shafts the head of his warriors, who came like a whirlwind to scatter me, rejoicing as if to devour the poor in secret. |
15 | Thou didst trample the sea with thy horses, the surging of mighty waters. |
16 | I hear, and my body trembles, my lips quiver at the sound; rottenness enters into my bones, my steps totter beneath me. I will quietly wait for the day of trouble to come upon people who invade us. |
17 | Though the fig tree do not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, |
18 | yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. |
19 | GOD, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like hinds' feet, he makes me tread upon my high places. To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. |

1 | First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, |
2 | for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, godly and respectful in every way. |
3 | This is good, and it is acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, |
4 | who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. |
5 | For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, |
6 | who gave himself as a ransom for all, the testimony to which was borne at the proper time. |
7 | For this I was appointed a preacher and apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth |
Matthew 18 |
|
23 | "Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants. |
24 | When he began the reckoning, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents; |
25 | and as he could not pay, his lord ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made. |
26 | So the servant fell on his knees, imploring him, `Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.' |
27 | And out of pity for him the lord of that servant released him and forgave him the debt. |
28 | But that same servant, as he went out, came upon one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and seizing him by the throat he said, `Pay what you owe.' |
29 | So his fellow servant fell down and besought him, `Have patience with me, and I will pay you.' |
30 | He refused and went and put him in prison till he should pay the debt. |
31 | When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their lord all that had taken place. |
32 | Then his lord summoned him and said to him, `You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you besought me; |
33 | and should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?' |
34 | And in anger his lord delivered him to the jailers, till he should pay all his debt. |
35 | So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart." |
